This review will fall under the Vampire Readathon hosted by Emma at BlackTeaandMilk. I couldn’t really get into one of my listed books and gave up half way. Therefore I will be replacing that review with this one!
Mini Reviews are for books I read recently but enough time has past to not remember key details of the story. These will be short and give a general feel of the book in terms of recommendation.
Title & Author: Guilty Pleasures by Laurell K. Hamilton
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Fiction, Paranormal, Horror, Paranormal Romance
Release Date: September 24th 2002
Series: Anita Blake Vampire Hunter #1
Publisher: Jove
Source: Bought
Description: Anita Blake may be small and young, but vampires call her the Executioner. Anita is a necromancer and vampire hunter in a time when vampires are protected by law—as long as they don’t get too nasty. Now someone’s killing innocent vampires and Anita agrees—with a bit of vampiric arm-twisting—to help figure out who and why.
Trust is a luxury Anita can’t afford when her allies aren’t human. The city’s most powerful vampire, Nikolaos, is 1,000 years old and looks like a 10-year-old girl. The second most powerful vampire, Jean-Claude, is interested in more than just Anita’s professional talents, but the feisty necromancer isn’t playing along—yet. This popular series has a wild energy and humor, and some very appealing characters—both dead and alive.
OVERAL THOUGHTS:
This book is amazing. It’s got nasty AND swoon worthy vamps, tough female main character, blood, action, and some questionably steamy scenes. I have read and reread this book/series over and over again and just can not get enough. Anita is my homegirl. She doesn’t care what other people think of her, she raises the dead for a living and gets to kill vampires for fun! If you’re looking for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer style heroine this is your read.
WOULD I RECCOMEND THIS BOOK?
Yes, I love this series. I haven’t been following it for awhile though because I forgot some key details and don’t want to reread for the umpteenth time 10+ books to read the next few. This series is one of my all time favorites though!
great post thank you 🙂 I am writing mine, I am having a bit of inertia at the moment and am trying to pull myself out of it!
