Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Quotes I Loved From Books I Read In The Past Year

Top Ten Tuesday

Ok first of all, am I the only one who is a bit confused by the sudden change in layout when writing a post? It looks really fancy but I have the learning curve of a old person and it took me forever to realize it auto saves progress and I don’t have to worry about loosing my draft. Anyway, I love a good Top Ten Tuesday prompt and this week was perfect since just the other day I had been perusing Goodreads and liking a bunch of quotes from books I’ve read. I’ve read a lot of books this year and so narrowing it down to 10 will be pretty difficult.

“I missed you every hour. And you know what the worst part was? It caught me completely by surprise. I’d catch myself just walking around to find you, not for any reason, just out of habit, because I’d seen something that I wanted to tell you about or because I wanted to hear your voice. And then I’d realize that you weren’t there anymore, and every time, every single time, it was like having the wind knocked out of me. I’ve risked my life for you. I’ve walked half the length of Ravka for you, and I’d do it again and again and again just to be with you, just to starve with you and freeze with you and hear you complain about hard cheese every day. So don’t tell me why we don’t belong together,” he said fiercely.”   – Shadow and Bone

“I found him carefully studying me, his lips in a thin line. “Has anyone ever taken care of you?” he asked quietly.
“No.” I’d long since stopped feeling sorry for myself about it.” – A Court of Thorns and Roses

“I miss you,’ she said. ‘Every day, I miss you. And I wonder what you would have made of all this. Made of me. I think – I think you would have been a wonderful king. I think they would have liked you more than me, actually.’ Her throat tightened. ‘I never told you – how I felt. But I loved you, and I think a part of me might always love you. Maybe you were my mate, and I never knew it. Maybe I’ll spend the rest of my life wondering about that. Maybe I’ll see you again in the Afterworld, and then I’ll know for sure. But until then … until then I’ll miss you, and I’ll wish you were here.” – Queen of Shadows

“If you start wondering how this house works, you’ll likely go mad. That could be amusing, I suppose. Especially if it’s the kind of madness that causes you to run naked through the hallways. Do feel free to indulge in that anytime.” – Cruel Beauty

“Love extra, even if it means you hurt extra, too” – The Start of Me and You

“Everyone who makes a mistake isn’t doomed to be an asshole forever.” –The Boy Most Likely To

“We don’t have to reveal everything to each other. It’s OK to be private. It’s OK to say no. It’s OK to say, ‘I’m not going to share that.” – Finding Audrey

“Life is never going to give you a break. It’s a hard, unforgiving son of a bitch, and when it steamrolls you over, there are two choices: stay down, or get back on your feet and fight.” – The Heartbreakers

“How do you live again, knowing what waits for you in the end?” – These Broken Stars

“Underneath this veneer of slightly crazy and mildly socially retarded, I’m a complete disaster.” – Fangirl

“I feel sorry for you, and I’m going to be your friend.”
“I don’t want to be your friend,” Cath said as sternly as she could. “I like that we’re not friends.”
“Me, too. I’m sorry you ruined it by being so pathetic.” – Fangirl

“Just… isn’t giving up allowed sometimes? Isn’t it okay to say, ‘This really hurts, so I’m going to stop trying’?”
“It sets a dangerous precedent.”
“For avoiding pain?”
“For avoiding life.” – Fangirl

Have you read any of these books? Any other quotes you liked?

        1. Well…I guess I should have said I like things that “move” me, if it drives me to emotion I know its a good book. Which is why I like sad books. But yes the emotional rollercoaster some of these books put me through is not safe. Haha

        2. Haha, The first book I remember crying about was Harry Potter: The order of the Phoenix.

I was in junior school and was sat there bawling and the dinner lady asked me what the heck was wrong with me?!

          Do you remember your first?

        3. For some reason it wouldn’t let me reply to your question below so I’m just going to reply here: I cried when I read The Order of the Phoenix as well! I loved Sirius SO MUCH and when he died I was pretty much like “Nope, I’m done. Just let me wallow in pity.” I was a complete mess.

  1. I am not a fan of the new layout for creating a post either. I am so used to the other way and it just seemed so much simpler!

Love the quotes! So many awesome books chosen as well! 🙂
That Shadow and Bone one ❤ so much love for that! 😀

    1. Haha sorry! I picked my favorites and it turns out I’m a gluten for sad things. I like things that move me emotionally so these were all stuck in my head from when I read them.
