Mini Book Review: Paige in Progress by Brighton Walsh

Mini Reviews are for books I read recently but enough time has past to not remember key details of the story, or I felt there was not enough to talk about for a full in depth review. These will be short and give a general feel of the book in terms of recommendation.

Description: She wanted a one-night stand…and then he moved in next door.

Paige Bennett is more than content with her life and what she does—and does not—have in it. She’s got a supportive family, a great apartment, and the best friend a girl could ask for; so what if her relationships expire faster than a carton of milk? After a disastrous detour courtesy of poor judgment in the boyfriend department, her plan is back on track and her dream job is finally within her grasp. Nothing can make her lose focus now. Well, nothing except the one-night stand she had with her best friend’s surrogate brother. The one-night stand she can’t stop thinking about.

Adam Reid has always been reliable…the responsible son, the loyal friend, the steady boyfriend. Two years ago, he graduated Magna Cum Laude and is well on his way to making a name for himself at an accounting firm in Denver—a far cry from working as a helper in the Mom and Pop store his parents own in Michigan. But when said store starts failing, he’s the only one who can step in and help. So reliable Adam does what he always does, and he comes to the rescue.

Paige thought Adam was a safe bet because he lives halfway across the country. But then suddenly he’s moving back to their town, and then into her apartment building, and soon he’s worming his way right into her life. If she’s not careful, he might sneak his way into her heart, too…

One of the best New Adult books this year!

Disclaimer: I received this book via a twitter giveaway and have not read the other books in this series. I entered because through goodreads I found out I don’t have to read the other books to know what’s going on since like most NA series each book is about a different character. That being said I enjoyed this book immensely and will definitely be checking out the rest of the series.

This book is split first person between Paige and Adam. This story was really refreshing because Paige is the notorious “play boy” trope while Adam is the type that only wants serious relationships with good quality girls. Yay role reversal! I like being able to see this since it’s well known girls can be just as promiscuous as boys but tend to get a lot more flak about it which is total bull crap. Paige has commitment issues and therefore constantly moves through a steady stream of guys, whereas Adam has only had a handful of long term relationships and only once had a one night stand.

If I had to rate this book on a scale of one to burning down the house in terms of hotness factor, well let’s just say you might want the fire department on speed dial while reading this. Paige in Progress is the perfect combination of sweet and salty, well written, the characters are well developed and there isn’t any stupid dominance fights over the girls. I deem this book A++ material. This book is equal parts fun and steamy. In typical PTBN style I won’t give away spoilers and such but at the end when Adam gives his ultimatum I am just so proud of Paige standing her ground and not letting her life be swept away and revolve around another man.
